Bend it like Belly

The Pregnancy Calendar seems to have stopped comparing the size of the baby to various fruit and veg, but now they have started in on MY body parts. Apparently my uterus is approaching the size of a soccer ball. And little Leo is a dribbler in the making.

In other exciting news, I have been getting seats offered to me in public transportation every once in a while. Mostly by older people, so I feel a little bad taking them. But not so bad that I pass them up.

Boy oh boy

It's official... we are awaiting the arrival of bouncing baby boy, 1. He already weighs a pound! And he annoyed the doctor by moving around. That's it, kid--subvert authority! mwah ha ha ha ha :)

Borrowed Baby

Last night I went to a friend's for dinner. She has a five-month-old baby, so I borrowed him to test out my brand-new babysling from anilina.org. It works! I liked it, he liked it. Very happy.

In other good news: the baby in my tummy is making itself felt! The little kicks feel like these liquidy "bluuups". Nifty :)

Feeling Squashy

So I'm jumping the gun a little here, but the news flash is: this Friday, junior is supposed to be as long as a small zucchini. Oh yeah. You heard me. It's summer squash time.

Right now I am looking forward to a) finally feeling a flutter or something from the little zucca, and b) getting a scan on June 5. We may get to see some sex organs--yowza!

Sweet!

This week junior is supposed to be five and a half inches long, head to bum. Apparently this is the size of a large sweet potato. Yum! But the more important question is... can the baby balance an olive on its nose? (Thanks to the blog on http://baabmallya.sulekha.com for unauthorized use of their image.)

How large is an onion?

The debate rages. How large is a large onion? It could be very very large! It could be an onion such as the world has never seen! It could also, I suppose, be a little larger than an avocado.

An Onion? Really?

We are moving back down the food-chain. Baby Center informs us that this week Junior will be five inches, the size of a "large onion". Last week it was supposed to be the size of an avocado. I am struggling to picture an onion larger than an avocado. Vidalia maybe? Hmmm.... getting hungry for guacamole...

Shrimp

According to babycenter Junior will soon be the size of a jumbo shrimp. Aww, he's working his way up from fruit to crustaceans. Still delicious though! (image from getty)

Sidney the kidney?

I think it is just Noemi's kidney, but the doctor claims it is Junior. Awww!!! He/she has a head and a back and little arms and legs!!! All the fixings!

Grape

Just for completeness, and because it rounds out this lovely fruit salad going on, we should mention that at one point it was a grape.
